Candidate Requirements

  • A relevant professional qualification. 
  • At least 10 years industry experience 
  • An excellent knowledge of local tax laws and legislation 
  • Previous responsibility for the management of a portfolio of clients.   
  • Ability to initiate and deliver change.   
  • Extremely strong interpersonal skills. 
  • Good communication and presentation skills. 
  • Methodical, measured and thoughtful.
  • Ability to lead and motivate.
  • Good working knowledge of IT platforms and applications and highly competent in the use of the Microsoft suite of products.  

Main Tasks Of The Role

Your duties may include but not be limited to the following:

  • Manage the delivery of the Company’s tax offerings with a focus on excellence in client service. 
  • Develop the Company’s services in respect of the tax offerings for clients.
  • Maintain clear calendar of tax activities across all clients and manage the team and resources accordingly.
  • Deal with correspondence, collate information and write reports, ensuring decisions made are communicated to the Company’s stakeholders.
  • Maintain an appropriate understanding of all laws, regulations and industry best practice relevant to the company and its clients.
  • Be fully supportive of the organisational policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that the organisational policies and procedures are complied with at all times.
  • Train and develop employees.
  • Collate, prepare and agree personal taxation returns / assessments.
  • Collate, prepare and agree company taxation returns / assessments to the Company’s tax computations.
  • Review outgoing mail prepared by other tax team members
  • Attendance of client meetings in respect of their taxation affairs.
  • Provide complex taxation support to the directors.
  • Provide proactive advice and guidance to clients.
  • Ensure team members who report directly to you understand their own objectives and the objectives of the team.
  • Provide timely, constructive feedback to direct reports.
  • Manage poor performance and unacceptable behaviours in a manner that encourages development. 
  • Take responsibility for the investigation and resolution of issues and problems within the department.
  • Manage the workloads of the tax team and allocate work to the appropriate team members, ensuring that the right person is doing the right job.
  • Manage the team on a day to day basis monitoring performance, absences, and productivity and recoverability levels.
  • Actively manage the WIP of tax team’s portfolio of clients.
  • Be responsible for the annual appraisals of the tax team and the setting and management of objectives.
  • Work closely with the client accounting and compliance teams where required, to ensure that client service levels, deadlines and expectations are met at all times. 

Business Responsibilities

Business Management

  • Identify improvements to internal processes and provide recommendations to the Board.
  • Implementation of recommended internal changes with a positive attitude.
  • Implement and support change approved by the Directors.
  • Contribute and provide input to management reports.
  • Ensure the corporate brand is upheld at all times and represent the Company professionally at client meetings and events. 

Project Management

Participate in and oversee projects as required ensuring timely and successful outcomes. 

Business Development

  • Proactively seek out and introduce new clients to the Company.
  • Participate in the client take on process.
  • Assist the Compliance Officer in ensuring new business is taken on in accordance with internal processes.
  • Ensure that new clients are taken on according to the Company procedures.
  • Assist in the development of policies and procedures that improves client service delivery.
  • Ensure the affairs of clients are kept regularly monitored. 
  • Ensure the consistent delivery of services. 

Client Service Delivery

  • Assist in the development of policies and procedures that improves client service delivery.
